Betsson Poker Review

Since launching their operation in 2002, Betsson Ltd. has experienced fast success and rapid expansion over the years. Much of this growth has been seen in the sportsbook and casino sectors, while their online poker room has steadily increased after opening in 2004. The poker site heavily benefits from being a part of the Ongame network, which offers a huge traffic base. And what’s nice is that there are plenty of fish included amongst this traffic because lots of sports betters and casino players find Betsson’s poker room.

Besides the easy competition, players can also take comfort in the reputability offered at Betsson Poker. They’re attached to one of the biggest online gaming operations in the world, and the customer support here is excellent. This being said, you rarely hear a lot of criticism regarding the service at Betsson.

Another reason why poker players don’t complain much about this site is because their software is very functional and user-friendly. The design is somewhat simplistic, but this lends itself to being easy for players of all skill levels to use. Some of the features you’ll find with the Betsson Poker software include note-taking, color-coding opponents, chat blocking, and lobby statistics such as flop-viewed percentage and average pot size. In regards to the graphics, they’re fairly nice from a visual standpoint, but nothing that will blow players away.

The Betsson Poker promotions, on the other hand, might be a different story for many players. They offer over $10 million in guaranteed money each month when tournaments, bonuses and promotions are taken into account. There is both a weekly $100k and $200k Guaranteed tournament, a High Roller tourney, lots of freerolls, monthly cash races and live tournament prize package satellites.

About the only major downside to Betsson Poker is that they don’t accept US players. However, they more than make up for this by offering software that’s available in 19 different languages. With this being the case, you’ll find a heavy international mix of players on the tables here.

Betsson Poker is a member of the Ongame network. With sites like Bwin, BestPoker, Betsson, Whitebet and Betsafe using their software, Ongame are indeed one of the biggest poker networks in the world and quite possibly the biggest in Europe. There are around 6 million registered players on Ongame sites. The network is obviously European oriented as none of its member sites accept US players.

Betsson Poker is available in several European languages, like Polish, Swedish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Turkish, Finnish, Danish, German, Czech and of course English.
Betsson Ltd, the company behind Betsson Poker is based in Malta and has various other online gaming operations running as well. They have an online casino, scratch cards and betting exchange.
The company boasts a spotless track record and is therefore one of the most trustworthy brands in the industry.

Player traffic:

Despite the fact that it does not accept US players, Betsson Poker sports excellent traffic. Because it has pretty much always been European oriented, the UIGEA hardly affected it at all. U.S. players weren’t a reliable source of traffic for them to begin with. The fact that they belong to the Ongame network, means that they benefit from network-wide traffic. They have shared tables with other Ongame network members and therefore they get a huge number of players at peak hours. There are around 25,000 people at their tables in peak hours, out of which around 7,000 are cash game players. Action-wise, you’re sure to find opponents at all limits and you will certainly not have to wait around for your SNG table to fill up.
The quality of the traffic is extremely varied. You’ll find top level sharks in here, drawn by the live tournament qualifiers, as well as clueless rookies and gamblers who drift over from the casino and sports betting operations run by the company. There are a huge number of Scandinavians on the site, and Scandinavians generally tend to be skilled poker players so that’s a bit of bad news in this respect.

Betsson offers three options when it comes to their software. You can download the full version in order to gain access to all the options offered. The Ongame software has been overhauled a while ago and now offers player avatars, color coding options and a variety of useful statistics. The software used by Betsson has been around for a while. As a battle-hardened veteran, it’s quick and extremely stable. A chat-blocking feature is also available and it frankly comes in rather handy from time to time.
Betsson Poker is also accessible through a java-based no download feature. Obviously, this option offers fewer extra features but it runs just as smooth and fast as the download version. Software for use on mobile devices has also been added to the options list recently.

Sign-up bonus:

PokerStars has a wide range of poker games and limits with the right limit for each pocket. Rakes are also very reasonable, being limited to $1 for low limit poker games and $3 for high limit and no limit poker games. Currently PokerStars offers the following online poker games:
Texas Holdem, Omaha High/Low, Omaha High, Stud High/Low, Stud High, Razz, HORSE Draw, 5 Card Draw, and 2-7 Triple Draw.

PokerStars Graphics:

Betsson is a poker room of various options. It offers several choices when it comes to the sign-up bonus too.

The first option offers a 100% match on your deposit up to $150. You do not need a special bonus code for this bonus. You have to generate 10 Poker Points/bonus dollar and you have 60 days to unlock the bonus.
The second option is a 100% match, up to $555. This bonus requires a minimum deposit of $200. 8 Poker Points are needed/bonus dollar, and 60 days are available for players to fulfill the redemption requirements.
The third option is a $1,600 one. The minimum required deposit is $1,000 and a special bonus code is needed to activate the bonus. Players have to generate 10 PPs/bonus dollar and have 60 days to unlock their bonus.

Betsson is one excellent poker room when it comes to promotions. They have a poker school which aims to teach the rookies the basics of the game. The Poker Club offers loyal players the opportunity to trade their Poker Points into cash. It is structured on a tiered reward system, which offers players cash back depending on how high they climb on the rankings ladder.

They also have a “refer a friend” setup.
They have an excellent tournament system. The King of the Hill promotion for instance is a jackpot SNG promotion offering rewards for those who win consecutive SNGs. There are a number of regional daily tournaments as well as the GSOP, Betsson Poker’s own online championship series.
The Big Deal Championchip is a $300,000 weekly guaranteed tournament. Packages for the WSOP’s Main Event are also available. Players have the possibility to set up their own private tournaments where they can play against their friends or anyone they invite.
Daily freerolls are also running, and they offer $250 every day. On weekends, the freeroll offers $500.
The Frenzy promotion offers low buy-in tournaments with excellent action and disproportionately large rewards.
The $70,000 EU Grand Prix is another weekly guaranteed event. Naturally, online qualifiers and sub-qualifiers are offered for all these events and players can make their way into them for a few dollars.

Betsson’s support system is not the best in the industry but it generally works fine. It is reachable through email or phone and the replies they provide are generally fast and satisfactory. The lack of a live chat feature is something I personally categorize as a serious shortcoming, because live chat does indeed represent the most direct and cheap way to offer support.
