Against all Odds, Michael Watson wins WSOPE High Roller

When the €51k WSOPE High Roller final table began, nobody gave Michael Watson much of a chance to win. After all, he had just 299,000 chips, compared to the healthy 2,596,000 stack of chip leader John Juanda. However, Watson never quit and his efforts resulted in winning the 2012 WSOPE High Roller along with €1,000,000.

Incredible Turnaround

Phil Hellmuth captures 2012 WSOPE Main Event Title

Phil Hellmuth could've retired from poker earlier this week and still be considered the greatest player in World Series of Poker history. But as it stands, the Poker Brat is an ambitious fellow, and his ambition recently led to a 2012 WSOPE Main Event title. Hellmuth overcame a field of 420 players to win this tournament along with a €1,022,376 ($1,331,031) first place payout.

Esfandiari, Frenchmen win big in 2012 WSOPE

While the 2012 WSOPE Main Event is still underway, all of the side events have been completed at this year's WSOPE. And we've definitely seen some great stories play out on the felt over the past week, including another huge victory for Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari. With Imed Mahmoud's victory already covered, let's recap what else has happened in the 2012 WSOPE thus far.

Imed Mahmoud wins WSOPE Event #1 to become First Tunisian Champ

We've only seen one tournament played in the 2012 WSOPE and there's already a great story. Little known kitchen worker Imed "Ben" Mahmoud took down the Event #1 €2,700 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em title and earned €147,099 afterward. What's especially noteworthy about all of this is that Mahmoud is the first player from Tunisia to win a WSOP bracelet of any kind.

Biggest Payouts in WSOP Main Event History

On October 30th, 2012, we'll see yet another poker player join the elite ranks of WSOP Main Event winners. Not surprisingly, chip leader Jesse Sylvia is the odds-on favorite to win the 2012 Main Event, but any of the other eight remaining final table players could easily take the title too. Since we're on the subject of WSOP ME winners, let's go over the top payouts in Main Event history.

And certain players are about to be more excited because an eighth tourney has been added to the 2012 WSOPE schedule. It'll be a €50,000 High Roller tournament to be exact, and quite a few prominent pros are expected to be in attendance. We'll discuss this along with the rest of the WSOPE schedule below.

WSOP Player Shannon Eastin makes NFL History despite Controversy

When Shannon Eastin learned that she would be filling in as a replacement referee for the National Football League (NFL), it marked a joyous occasion for the former WSOP player. After all, Eastin was set to become the first female referee in the league's lengthy history. But as you'll see, the road to cementing her place in NFL lore turned out to be very bumpy.

No Easy Task

Jess Sylvia is Bookmakers' Favorite to win 2012 WSOP Main Event

When the 2012 WSOP Main Event final table resumes play on October 28th, 2012, it's little surprise that chip leader Jesse Sylvia has been given the best odds of winning. With his commanding lead and 43,875,000 chips, the Bodog sportsbook gives Sylvia 3:1 odds of taking down the 2012 WSOP.

With no big names left in the Main Event field, bookmakers have created little deviation from the chip counts and each player's chances of winning. Before we continue this discussion, let's take a look at the complete odds:
